where to buy crochet or knit yarns in Malaysia

I love to buy yarns. Seriously! I have two boxes of yarns and haven't touch quarter of it. In Malaysia, we don't have much choices of place that sell knitting or crocheting yarns. Maybe because of the humid and hot weather in Malaysia, these techniques aren't very popular here. Plus we don't have sheep scattered around the mountains or cotton plantations to produce tonnes of yarns every year. Most of the time i bought crochet yarns online or at craft bazaars.  So now i would like to share several places, shops or online store available in Malaysia. I have experience buying in several places so maybe i can give some reviews on it. I hope these can helps you in hunting your yarns.

Shops

Maycraft : My only review is their price is expensive.

Bazaar :
Supplies surprise bazaar. I bought my thalenta yarns (from Indonesia) at this bazaar once. And yes thalenta yarns is very nice and high in quality. Hmm wonder why malaysia can't produce our own high quality yarns.. You can check the handmade movement website to know when they are going to have the bazaar again.

Online shops:

http://yarnsonlineshop.com/ : Suitable if you want to buy in bulks. They ships directly from Turkey.
Da knit : I bought my crochet hooks from these shops and their services is quite good. Their yarns are lovely too. But they based in West Malaysia.
Cotton House Store : My favourite online shops. Reasonable price and high quality.

Bought 6 balls of yarns last Monday. Damage done : RM 36.21.

So any of you know other places we can get cheap and high quality yarns? Share it with me. Thank you.

  3. I came across your site while I'm looking for crochet yarn too. I noticed you can find it rather cheap from overseas rather than from Malaysia sellers. Try this - http://www.yarn-paradise.com/cat.en.5496

  5. RM30 ++ for 6 balls of yarns is very reasonable. I'm now loving thicker yarns & they are pricier. I also bought from http://www.danshariart.com/shop/ (Pinkyfrogshop). It's a wonderful place! :D
